I am pleased to announce that the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research (ISNR) and The Behavioral Medicine Report have reached an agreement that allows us to re-publish select NeuroConnections articles. NeuroConnections is a joint quarterly publication affiliated with both ISNR and The Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback (AAPB) – Neurofeedback Division. ISNR members [...]

As the name suggests, Nutrition.gov is free service from the U.S. federal government that provides important information on nutrition. Healthy living recommendations and guidelines, especially dietary ones, seem to change constantly. Nutrition.gov does a great job of bringing together science-based research and news for the general public from “….the staff at the Food and Nutrition [...]

Another round of interesting research news updates from Science Daily. Today’s report provides links to research that details, for example, how children may raise their parents, the psychological impact of child abuse, money and fame may lead to unhappiness, many more reasons not smoke (seems like I have this headline in almost every update – [...]

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Mental Health (NIMH) have been somewhat quiet lately with the research news. Historically, physical health insurance coverage provided superior benefits and fewer restrictions than mental health. Psychologists and consumer advocates have fought to end these disparities for many, many years so the passage of this bill was a celebrated win by many in the mental healthcare field (except the insurance companies, of course).

The Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury have invited public comments through a Request for Information (RFI) under the Wellstone – Domenici Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008. Many professional biofeedback/neurofeedback organizations, such as ISNR, AAPB, and BCIA, have urged their members to take immediate action.

I dislike posts that serve only as blatant advertisements as much as anyone, but I thought our readers would appreciate a link to get $50.00 off an EmWave PC HRV biofeedback system. No apparent expiration date is given so order sooner rather than later because it can be pulled at any time.

The Behavioral Medicine Report seeks to recruit numerous qualified writers/commenters to contribute to this website! I have developed this site on my own for most of the past year, and our readership continues to grow at very steady pace. I alone cannot keep up with the vast amount of important health psychology and behavioral medicine [...]
