foodsafetywebsiteBMED Report readers learned about the excellent healthy eating website Nutrition.gov earlier this year. Now the federal government has launched another free science-based food website appropriately named FoodSafety.gov. FoodSafety.gov seeks to alert and inform the general public on important public health/food -related topics. Check the end of this report for a link to this website.

Food Safety.gov, touted as “your gateway to federal food safety information,” taps into the vast federal government databases to provide a wealth of food safety knowledge and advice. Get reliable information on how to safely prepare and store foods like meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy products, and learn more about food poisoning, food illnesses, and current nationwide food product recalls. Additionally, Food Safety.gov, in cooperation with Partnership for Food Safety Education, also offers multimedia and educational materials that can be freely distributed to friends, family, children, and students. For those that want to stay abreast with the latest developments in food safety, you can also sign up to receive email updates.

Visit FoodSafety.gov

Enjoy.
