“Brain Facts” is a great introductory book for the laymen who wants to better understand human physiology, and might even make a nice study guide/review for introductory Physiological Psychology courses. A variety of essential brain and nervous system topics are detailed with an emphasis on physiology and developmental aspects, as well as some coverage of anatomy.

Chapter topics include: neuron, brain development, sensation and perception, learning, memory, and language, movement, sleep, stress, aging, advances and challenges in neural disorders, new diagnostic methods, potential therapies, and neuroethics. The glossary also serves as a quick reference guide for the sometimes challenging terms and concepts.
